How To Get More Exercise And Move Your Body More
I guess we could all do with a bit more exercise in our week. Especially in the colder months, when you just want to snuggle up in your comfy blanket and sip a cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that and let me tell you, you can do all that, but AFTER you have moved your body. Our body is made to move, it doesn't have to be heavy sports, even just walking helps to set those beneficial endorphines free and improve our overall health. If you want to get more exercise, here is what you can do:
Plan your workout
Make time to work out. It is easier to stick to exercising regurarly when you plan it troughout your week. Just as you would set a time to see your best friend, set a time to meet your best friend named "workout".
Find an exercise you really love and enjoy
Ok, so even if you set time aside for your workout, chances are you will just put it off, because you got "better things" to do, and that can be anything, from vacuum cleaning to watching that cute cat video on YouTube. =) I know all the excuses. But if you find something you really enjoy doing you will be more motivated to really get out and do it. So find something you love doing.
Take the stairs
There are some free exercises around every corner. At work or at home, take the stairs instead of the elevator, if you commute to work, get off the bus 1 or 2 stops earlier and walk those extra few blocks. Are you early for your train? Walk around the building one more time instead of standing at the platform doing nothing.
Get up early
If it's difficult for you to work out in the evenings because you work long houres or have a lot of events, try getting up 30 minutes earlier than usual and fitting in your exercise. This can be a quick morning run, a workout session at home or a yoga practice. Not only will you feel energized for the day, but you will have your workout done and out of the way for you to tackle your day.
